Psoriasis Awareness Month

Psoriasis is a non-contagious chronic, inflammatory skin disease that causes thick, scaly skin that are reddened in appearance with silvery scales. The most common areas of the body affected are the elbows, knees and scalp. Some people even experience symptoms of arthritis which includes pain, stiffness and swelling of joints.

Unfortunately, there is no cure and the cause of psoriasis in unknown but environmental factors and genetic predisposition are thought to contribute to its development. Although incurable, it can be controlled with medication.
