National Cancer Survivor Day

An estimated 15.5 million Americans survived cancer in 2016 and that number is expected to increase every year. Although surviving cancer brings hope and happiness, it can also bring lingering worries and fear due to the possibility of cancer recurrence or financial stress.

Remaining positive, staying informed, having awareness of what can be controlled and using energy towards being healthy are all helpful ways for a cancer survivor to deal with the fear and uncertainty.

Although, studies have found the most effective way for a cancer survivor to cope is through counseling or support groups filled with other survivors, friends or family because it eases loneliness and allows them to express their feelings.
