World Hepatitis Day

What is Hepatitis, and what is Hepatitis World Day?

Hepatitis is a disease characterized by inflammation of the liver, and can be deadly. Many that carry hepatitis do not know that they have it. Viral hepatitis is one of the leading causes of death globally — it is right up there with HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. It has not been found in one main location or one specific set of people either, it affects millions of people around the globe without them even knowing.

With vaccines and treatments for hepatitis B, and a cure for hepatitis C, the elimination of the viral infection is definitely achievable, but not without creating a greater awareness of it first. World Hepatitis Day presents the opportunity to inform and educate on the disease at large. It allows people to join together on a global scale of awareness.
